The first bend was where all the Servants' fates were about to change, and also where Cú Chulainn had met his end during the carnival. One after another, they drifted through the turn. Special magic activated, and a magical orb appeared before each vehicle, its panel rapidly scrolling through options.
Gilgamesh glanced at what he had drawn, then grinned. "Heh, an extra five seconds of acceleration? Charge, Babylon!"
Diarmuid had drawn reinforced protection instead. The strength of his magic shield doubled, yet he could only watch as Gilgamesh's car shot past him as though it faced no resistance at all.
"Gilgamesh is already disappearing from sight!" Iskandar looked at the single attack authorization he had drawn and took a deep breath. His opponent was too far ahead now—he couldn't hit him.
But someone else on the track had drawn an attack authorization.
Hassan of the Hundred Faces looked at her result, then smiled and pressed the button. The cargo compartment of her truck opened and split apart, revealing several modified missile pods inside.
"Fire! Fire them all!" Hassan launched her deadly attack. Twelve small missiles blasted out, while two more missile pods remained behind.
The deadly dozen missiles shot forth, locking onto and pursuing the racers.
Artoria looked at the incoming missiles, took a deep breath, and abruptly accelerated to evade them.
The most heavily targeted was Golden Flash at the very front. He was almost at the next bend when three missiles came flying at him.
"Damn it!" Gilgamesh cursed. He could no longer enjoy the thrill of racing to his heart's content and had to deal with the missiles instead. Though he couldn't counterattack, missiles alone were far too naive if they thought they could force him out.
Diarmuid was probably in the worst position. His vehicle was
