As for the final step, although it had seemed to go smoothly, it had actually contained the only point of risk in the entire plan.
The Lord System contained the following description of the two adult Mind Flayers:

With the materials Landen had on hand, he could only concoct a one-use amulet specifically designed to defend against Mind Blast. It was precisely that data above that had ultimately made Landen decide to carry out the plan.
From the moment Moa and Mosen appeared, Landen had kept a close eye on the distance between them.
