The Mind Flayers and Lizardfolk of the Youweimas Area have a long-standing feud. This area is vast but sparsely populated, with even fewer creatures that Mind Flayers would consider food. Among these, the brains of Lizardfolk are of the highest quality, making them the "staple food" for that particular family of Mind Flayers.
Over this long period, at least three-digit numbers of Lizardfolk have had their brains consumed by the Mind Flayers. Of course, as intelligent beings, the Mind Flayers understand the concept of not depleting their resources. Therefore, they didn't hunt the Lizardfolk to extinction, which allowed the Lizardfolk population to remain at a considerable number.
The two sides were sworn enemies. In response, the Lizardfolk had launched two expeditions to attack the Mind Flayer's lair, which was a day's journey from their camp, but both ended in failure. Their own encampment had tall walls, but this didn't mean they were skilled at attacking fortifications. Faced with walls that were no shorter than their own camp's, the Lizardfolk were helpless.
During the second assault, they attempted a frontal attack. However, as they gathered beneath the walls, ready to begin their assault, Moa and Mosen unleashed a Mind Storm from above, instantly felling over half of the Lizardfolk Warriors.
Since then, the Lizardfolk had never again attacked the Mind Flayer family, instead focusing on strengthening their own defenses to prevent the Mind Flayers from hunting them.
Multiple Lizardfolk dispersed into the stone forest area, encircling the young Mind Flayer from various directions.
Only half of the Lizardfolk's brain had been consumed, yet the young Mind Flayer felt no regret. Along the way, Landen had constantly instilled in his mind one thought: there is plenty of food, don't be greedy!
So, seeing that the Lizardfolk had been successfully lured, the young Mind Flayer, without a second thought, released the Lizardfolk and leaped into the stone forest. This little guy was still young, and the meter-high stone pillars could effectively conceal his figure. However, under Landen's repeated instructions, he wouldn't slip away using the shadows of these pillars like he had been discovered before.
Every time he leaped a certain distance and reached a relatively safe spot, he would deliberately expose his head, letting the pursuing Lizardfolk spot him, and then continue to flee. In this way, he gradually led the Lizardfolk behind him towards the agreed-upon location.
Witnessing the slaughter of their kin, coupled with their long-standing hatred for the Mind Flayer family, these Lizardfolk didn't think much further. All they wanted now was to capture the cruel little guy who had harmed so many of their kind, to skin him, dismember him, eat his flesh, and suck his marrow. They completely failed to notice that the direction the little guy was fleeing was somewhat strange.
He wasn't fleeing towards the outside of the stalactite area but towards the mountain wall on one side.
If he continued on this path, the little guy would eventually be cornered against the mountain wall.
Would a little guy who had successfully completed over a dozen hunts be foolish enough to lead himself to his death? Of course not!
When they were still several hundred meters away from the mountain wall, the young Mind Flayer once again poked his head out from among the stone pillars. This time, he didn't quickly retract it but suddenly looked up and let out a sharp cry.
Amidst his cry, another long howl immediately followed, and then the Lizardfolk chasing the young Mind Flayer suddenly felt a tremor.
The tremor came from the ground, very slight, but the Lizardfolk, with their clawed, webbed feet and well-developed nerves, felt it with extreme clarity.
However, such a sensation didn't stop them. After all, this was the Underworld, where space was not very stable. Furthermore, there were three volcanoes in this area, so they were long accustomed to such tremors.
They never imagined that this tremor would be different from any other!
Less than five seconds after the first long howl stopped, the second long howl followed.
Then, the Lizardfolk witnessed a scene they had never seen before.
From the gaps between the stone pillars, Rock Lizards suddenly leaped out.
The Rock Lizards' mobility was excellent; the Lizardfolk knew this, as this species was also part of their diet.
However, what surprised them was that on the back of each Rock Lizard, there was a Hobgoblin! The Hobgoblins wore rather crude armor, even inferior to their own, but all the Hobgoblins held standard Warhammers. The hammerheads, as large as their own heads, gleamed with a chilling light under the unique dim glow of the Underworld!
Twenty Rock Lizards, using the stone pillars as springboards, moved at high speed by leaping forward, rapidly closing in on the Lizardfolk!
However, the first to attack were not these Hobgoblin Knights who had captured all the Lizardfolk's attention, but the remaining ten!
They had been using the shadows of the stone pillars to conceal their movements while maintaining extremely high speeds. As the Hobgoblin Knights leaped, they also accelerated the Rock Lizards to their maximum speed and, before the Hobgoblin Knights, charged towards the Lizardfolk!
With their gaze fixed above, they naturally wouldn't notice the attack coming from below!
The Warhammers, though not uniform, were swung in a very regular upward motion from below. This was a move from the mounted combat technique Landen had devised. Given the height of the Hobgoblin Knights, such a swing would perfectly strike the "weakness" of humanoid creatures between one and two meters tall.
The "weakness" of humanoid creatures, regardless of species, gender, or anything else, when struck, would cause excruciating pain far beyond the ordinary, enough to incapacitate most of them, or even kill them outright!
This was a combat technique prepared for war. Although somewhat unethical, it was highly effective!
Of course, for this battle, Landen had specifically instructed that even if the Hobgoblin Knights used this "groin-striking" move, they were not to actually aim for "that area." Every Lizardman here would be his subject in the future, so causing less harm was better!
Therefore, these Warhammers ultimately avoided that area and landed on the Lizardfolk's abdomens. However, with the added momentum of the Rock Lizards' high-speed charge, it was still a powerful blow!
One strike!
More than half of the Lizardfolk who had been pursuing the young Mind Flayer cried out in pain and fell.
The screams of their companions immediately distracted the other Lizardfolk. At this moment, the Hobgoblin Knights, still moving at high speed on the stone pillars, arrived.
Holding the reins in one hand, their bodies tilted sideways, their Warhammers swung from behind!
The Hobgoblin Knights were not tall, but standing on the meter-high stone pillars gave them a height comparable to the Lizardfolk. Even when swung horizontally, these Warhammers could easily hit the Lizardfolk's heads.
However, still following Landen's orders, the Warhammers were lowered slightly. With a series of thuds, five Lizardfolk who were hit in the chest were sent flying backward, screaming!
In less than a minute, of the more than twenty Lizardfolk who had been pursuing, less than five could still stand!
And these few didn't last more than a few seconds. Just as they were about to flee, they felt their feet slip.
Grease from Avina!
Clatter! They all fell to the ground!
