Without anyone expecting it, a figure with strange movements entered Amegakure and came before Hanzo of the Salamander.

Nagato would never have dreamed that Zetsu, whom he, Konan, and Yahiko valued so highly, would sell out their organization to Hanzo of the Salamander.

Not only had Black Zetsu betrayed them, but he had decisively helped Hanzo of the Salamander devise a plan. His goal was to provoke Nagato. If Nagato could not control the Rinnegan or summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, Black Zetsu's plan could not be carried out.

Fortunately for Black Zetsu, someone as loyal and righteous as Nagato had obvious weaknesses that were easy to exploit. As long as he seized those weaknesses and expanded upon them... everything could proceed in the direction he wanted. Nagato's weaknesses were Konan and Yahiko.
