Uchiha Hiko was telling the truth. Even if he had not encountered Jinbe, Fishman Island would still have emerged from this crisis unscathed. Hody Jones, who sought to overthrow Fishman Island, would ultimately be defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates. The only loss would be damage to Noah Ark, so comparatively speaking, the incident would end without much danger.
But that was all Hiko was willing to say. He would not reveal any more information. After all, he had crossed over and interfered with the timeline. What if events deviated and produced results different from the original timeline?
After all, Baron Tam Tam had already had an arm removed by him. It was impossible for him to fight Pedro again. That was how the timeline had changed after his crossing.
"Resolving the centuries-long hatred between fishmen and humans and achieving peaceful coexistence was Queen Otohime's lifelong wish." Jinbe's gaze darkened, and a rare hint of ferocity appeared in his eyes. "Noah represents not only the hope of the fishmen, but also the meaning of the undersea world's yearning for the freedom of the surface."
"Crack!" A crisp sound came from Jinbe's clenched fist. "Anyone who lays a hand on Noah is an enemy of the fishmen."
Hiko said nothing and waited for Jinbe's decision.
Jinbe put away his imposing expression and looked at Hiko with utmost sincerity. In a deep voice, he said, "Not only did Your Excellency save the kidnapped mermaids, you have also generously offered me a hand here in an attempt to spare Fishman Island from catastrophe. I deeply admire you!"
Hiko remained unmoved. He knew part of how the timeline would unfold and had the ability to change it, but one could never do what one was good at too easily. Otherwise, it would become cheap.
