Background / History

Aoba is a war orphan with past-life memories. At age four, he awakens while Madara Uchiha examines his memories; after Madara saves him from pursuing ninja, Aoba agrees to serve him in repayment. He spends the next six months fetching water, serving tea, and cleaning Madara's base without receiving training or tangible benefits. Privately, he intends to survive long enough to activate his system and outlive Madara rather than participate in Madara's plans. 3

While living beneath Madara, Aoba befriends White Zetsu's clone Little White and uses the connection to gather outside intelligence. He also erects tombstones for the parents of his current body—partly from genuine filial obligation and partly to cultivate a loyal, exploitable persona under Madara's surveillance. 3 4

After Obito is brought to the base, Madara assigns Aoba to look after him. Aoba persuades the injured Obito to remain and recover by exploiting his fear that Kakashi and Rin could be endangered if he is captured. The Myriad Worlds Death-Seeking System later activates, forcing Aoba toward dangerous missions while granting him his first abilities. 5 9

Aoba reaches Konoha among a group of war orphans and presents himself as a survivor of Tachibana Village whose parents are dead.
