The great battle was about to begin, and you're telling us, the Hyuga Clan, to leave and go back to the village!!!
Hyuga Hiashi was completely stunned. He could not believe Ronglin would issue an order like this, telling him to take the Hyuga Clan members and leave.
One had to know that no matter the time, the village could not do without the Hyuga Clan—especially during war. The Hyuga Clan were the finest scouts. In Hyuga Hiashi's view, Ronglin had left him and several hundred clansmen hanging for so long, so once war broke out, there would surely come a time when their strength was needed. Yet reality was the exact opposite of what he had imagined. Ronglin had simply told them to return to the village.
"Lord Hokage, you're telling us, the Hyuga Clan, to return to the village?"
Hyuga Hiashi's expression turned ugly, and even his breathing grew uneven. At a time like this, Ronglin was actually making him take his clansmen away. Was this looking down on the Hyuga Clan, or deliberate exclusion?
Mixing personal grievances with public affairs?
"Mm."
Ronglin looked at Hyuga Hiashi and laughed inwardly, then said with a sigh, "You've all worked hard during this period. Now it's time for you to go back and rest. I and everyone in Konoha will never forget the contributions your Hyuga Clan has made."
"Perfect timing, really. You mentioned before that your clansmen needed rest. Now you can go back."
"I..."
Even with Hyuga Hiashi's decent self-restraint, a surge of anger rose in his heart. He understood now. Ronglin was using public office to settle a private grudge. He was deliberately excluding the Hyuga Clan. What putting the bigger picture first? To hell with that. He was freezing out the Hyuga Clan, plain and simple.
