Pushing open the Greenhouse door, Sean felt his heartbeat quicken considerably.
What if Professor Sprout wasn't there?
What if she'd already finished processing the Viper Fangs?
What if...
The thoughts flashed through Sean's mind and were immediately cast aside.
Because he saw the plump professor hard at work.
"Professor Sprout."
Sean jogged over, his voice trembling slightly.
"Welcome, Mr. Green."
Professor Sprout greeted Sean warmly.
"Come with me. We have some special materials to handle today."
Sean's jog turned into a long-strided run, as though Professor Sprout might vanish the moment he blinked.
The plump witch gave an "oh" and pushed aside the vines above Sean's head.
Professor Sprout walked briskly ahead.
She led Sean through the familiar Bubble Pods section.
"Our dear Bubble Pods are about to ripen. Once the pink pods grow a little bigger, the sparkling Beans will jump out.
"We have to harvest them before they jump out, or the Greenhouse will be covered in pod flowers."
The professor squeezed a pod, her voice filled with the joy of harvest.
"Mr. Green, would you like to pick them?"
Sean gave a firm "Mm," and the two Wizards, one large and one small, arrived at the Oak Table.
All kinds of Snake Fangs were laid out on it.
"Every year around this time, I help process a few materials...
"Ah, look at these Snake Fangs. They're so sturdy. Mr. Green, do you know the difference between them?"
Professor Sprout waved her wand, and several Snake Fangs floated before Sean.
They were pointed and sharp, gleaming coldly. There did indeed seem to be some differences between them.
"Viper Fangs have tiny grooves inside them."
Sean studied the Snake Fangs carefully for a while before answering.
"Exactly right."
Professor Sprout looked somewhat surprised.
"What sharp observation."
As she spoke, a mortar and Pestle flew into Sean's hands.
"Now, try grinding them, Mr. Green."
Sean did not hesitate. Grinding was not particularly troublesome.
Especially since the Pestle in his hand seemed to possess some sort of magic.
Sean guessed it was something like Reducto, and it greatly sped up his progress.
Professor Sprout watched Sean grind diligently, then waved her wand.
Ten mortars and Pestles on the table began moving all at once.
"For an Awakening Potion, we need to grind them finer. But for Scurvy Paste, this size is about right."
As soon as Professor Sprout finished speaking,
Sean stopped grinding. He had already processed ten portions of materials.
That shouldn't be too slow,
Sean thought.
Then he saw the ten mortars moving together.
Well, Wizards really could do everything.
Sean did not dwell on it. Instead, he carefully memorized the Snake Fangs' current ground state and closely observed the differences between the powders of Viper Fangs and nonvenomous Snake Fangs.
Unfortunately, he could not find any.
"Oh, Mr. Green."
Professor Sprout saw that his eyes were nearly pressed against the powder and laughed so hard her hat tilted slightly.
She waved her wand again, and the powders were placed into Glass Bottles of different colors.
The Glass Bottles containing Viper Fangs were pale red, while the others were white.
Sean suddenly understood.
"The angle of the sunflowers tells me it's time for you to leave, Mr. Green."
Professor Sprout gestured back and forth with her five fingers in farewell.
Only then did Sean realize that an hour and a half had already passed.
He quickly bid the professor goodbye, asking softly only one question:
"Professor, can I come again this afternoon?"
"Of course. The Greenhouse welcomes every child who loves nature."
And so Sean pushed open the Greenhouse door.
That afternoon, Ravenclaw would be having their first Transfiguration Class with Gryffindor.
He did not want to be turned into a pocket watch or a map or something, so he quickened his pace.
While he was at it, he opened the System Panel:
Herbology Knowledge: Locked (59/90) Apprentice-level Herbology Knowledge can unlock an Apprentice-level Title in the field of Herbology. Levitation Charm: Apprentice-level (4/300) Scourgify: Apprentice-level (70/300) Lumos Charm: Beginner-level (19/900)
Lumos Charm had reached the beginner level.
Sean lit his wand. It was much brighter than when it had been at the apprentice level.
Moreover, it was faster and easier to cast.
As for making it as bright as it had been in the classroom before, he needed to work up his emotions.
Even then, it might not succeed.
In fact, Sean had tried in the classroom, but he had never been able to produce such a bright light again.
The Transfiguration classroom was on the second floor of the castle, not far from Professor McGonagall's office.
Upon entering the classroom, Sean saw a short brown Wooden Table, with a chair from the House of Plantagenet era behind it.
An antique.
Hogwarts really was rich,
Sean thought.
Then he spotted Michael, who wore a conflicted expression. A Black Hair girl sat beside him.
At that moment, he was agonizing over whether to sit with Sean.
Sean shook his head and sat beside Hermione. There was also a cage next to her, with a squeaking rat locked inside.
Even though the desks were meant for two people, the seat beside her was always empty.
"Sean, did you see the Tabby Cat on the table? She's so cute."
Sean looked up. A silver-gray Tabby Cat sat gracefully atop the table.
"Yeah."
Sean nodded.
As they spoke, they heard a creaking sound from behind them.
It was Harry and Ron, who shoved open the door in a panic and rushed into the classroom.
By now, they were already three minutes late.
Hermione glanced back at them, then pursed her lips and shook her head.
"We made it. If we'd been late, Professor McGonagall's expression would've scared us to death."
Ron said thankfully.
Seeing that the two of them still had not taken their seats, Sean knew they would not escape this.
The Tabby Cat leaped into the air and transformed into a tall witch.
She wore dark green robes and tilted her head as she stared at Ron, who had been speaking.
Ron's eyes widened, his lips pressed tightly together. His expression seemed to say:
"Harry, do you think we'll survive?"
"That was really impressive."
Ron tried to muddle through.
"Thank you for your assessment, Mr. Weasley.
"Perhaps I should turn you and Mr. Potter into a pocket watch.
"That way, at least one of you might be able to keep time."
"We got lost."
"Then perhaps I should turn you into a map. Surely you don't need a map to find your own seats?"
A wave of quiet laughter immediately swept through the classroom.
"Two points from Gryffindor."
Professor McGonagall added.
Sean saw Hermione cast Harry and Ron another speechless glance.
Gryffindor's reputation was well deserved,
Sean thought.
"Transfiguration is the most complex and dangerous magic among all the subjects you will study at Hogwarts."
Professor McGonagall said sternly.
"If anyone misbehaves in my classroom, I will ask them to leave and never allow them back in. I have warned you."
After speaking, Professor McGonagall waved her wand.
The desk in front of her turned into a pig, which walked around the classroom before changing back.
The Young Wizards' eyes shone as they watched, and they could not wait to begin learning.
