Background

Ronnie grew up at Asahi Orphanage alongside Emma and Rumi. He dreamed of becoming an exceptional Mist Explorer and treated the Contract Ceremony as the decisive chance to leave the city and explore the Mist Zone. 108

He had attempted to befriend the withdrawn Li Qi when they were younger, even offering him a hand and saying, “Let’s be friends!” Li Qi rejected him, but Ronnie remained less hostile toward Li Qi than the other orphans were. 108 127

Contract Ceremony and Special Training

Ronnie contracts with the supposedly Level Four Crystal, crying over his perceived failure while Emma and Rumi comfort him. His inability to keep up with Mist Explorer training later leads the trio to ask Li Qi for special training. 109 119

Li Qi discovers that Crystal is far above its listed rank and agrees to train Ronnie. The training improves Ronnie from the bottom of his class to the middle, preventing immediate elimination. 119 120

Awakening of Crystal

Inside the Ark, Ronnie refuses Number Five’s argument that the current generation should be abandoned as corrupted “Mist Beasts.” He follows Li Qi’s instructions and inserts Crystal into the Ark’s system, helping defeat Number Five’s control. 190 191
