At nine o'clock the next morning.
A knock came promptly at the door of Brook's house.
Brook opened the door.
Standing before him was a man wearing Muggle clothes that fit him somewhat awkwardly.
His striking red hair was hard to miss.
The man said cheerfully, "Finally meeting you, Brook. I'm Arthur Weasley."
"Hello, Mr. Weasley. Please, come in."
Brook stepped aside, letting Arthur into the house, and poured him a cup of black tea prepared in advance.
"Yesterday, because of your matter, there was quite a debate at the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. By the way, I'm the head there."
Arthur lifted the teacup and took a sip.
"Thank you for your help," Brook replied.
Arthur waved his hand, showing no intention of taking credit.
"It wasn't me. They were arguing red-faced, and then Bronte said your elf belonged to Hogwarts, and then..."
He couldn't quite suppress the grin at the corner of his mouth.
"Dead silence. The Director made the call on the spot, and Bronte got shipped off to Plymouth. I doubt he'll be seeing any holidays for a while."
Brook nodded.
This Mr. Weasley was rather interesting.
Translated, his words meant:
First, he was making it clear he had little say in such decisions at the Ministry;
Second, Dumbledore's name carried weight, and it was worth using first if trouble came up;
Finally, he hinted that Director Hopkirk had a forceful style—this matter had been forced through by him, so it would be wise to show some gratitude.
Their conversation naturally turned to Hagrid's batch of materials.
Nearly a third of the materials had already been sold.
The British market was now saturated, and the remainder would have to be shipped elsewhere.
The first payment had also been safely deposited into Hagrid's vault.
From this moment on, in terms of liquid funds alone, Hagrid could rival the old established families.
After finishing on Hagrid's matters, the talk returned to business.
Per the Office's requirements, a spell needed to be placed on Brook's house to prevent magical leakage.
But if that were all, Arthur wouldn't have come personally.
After all, he and Molly had already bought tickets to Romania.
Because of Brook's matter, their trip had been delayed.
"Protego Totalum, Obscuro, Repello Muggletum, and so on—I'll cast them all on the house. But it'll take at least ten hours. If you have things to do, go ahead."
Arthur spoke as he walked around the house, inspecting it.
"Could I learn by watching?"
Brook would likely move houses again in the future, and he'd feel more at ease casting these spells himself.
"Of course. They're all very common spells. There's a book in the Hogwarts library called Home Life and Habitats that covers them thoroughly. You can borrow it sometime."
Arthur raised his wand.
"Obscuro! "
This spell would make the house difficult to see clearly from the outside.
That way, passersby wouldn't notice the magical work in progress.
Over the next few hours.
Arthur carefully cast each spell while patiently explaining the details of the incantations.
He also passed on some tricks he'd picked up from years of practice.
Brook listened intently, committing anything he didn't understand to memory for later.
By the time Arthur finished setting all the magic, night had quietly fallen.
Brook wanted to invite him to dinner as thanks.
But Arthur smiled and declined. "Molly's sure to have dinner ready. Next time, maybe."
"Alright then!" Brook nodded in understanding.
He then handed Arthur a heavy pouch of Gold Galleons. "I'd like to trouble you with this—to smooth things over at the Office."
Arthur didn't refuse either and accepted it readily.
Brook actually didn't have to pay this money.
After all, he spent most of his time living at Hogwarts, and the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office rarely had much sway over him.
But as the saying goes: if you don't send gifts for small matters, no one will care about big ones.
With such an opportunity handed to him, he naturally seized it.
In the days that followed, Brook fully entered retirement life.
Every day, he just hoed the ground and planted some flowers and grass.
When tired, he lay back in a rocking chair, sipping tea and listening to music.
Of course, Hermione was definitely part of it too.
That little girl's height had finally made the cut, passing 1.4 meters (with thick-soled boots on).
So she dragged Brook straight to the amusement park.
"Brook, Brook, I want to ride everything fun!"
Seeing Hermione's excitement, Brook really couldn't bear to refuse.
He'd risk his life to accompany the little lady.
Drop tower, giant pendulum, roller coaster—Hermione didn't skip a single one.
The piercing "Ah! Ah!" screams that tore through the clouds made Brook's eardrums ring.
But what the little girl loved most was still the carousel.
Still that favorite one of hers—the golden horse she'd only ride even if it meant waiting an extra round.
As the music started, the carousel slowly turned.
The smile on Hermione's little face never stopped.
Brook just stood by the side, quietly watching.
And of course, ice cream was a must at the end.
The two of them scooped spoonful after spoonful from a deluxe oversized ice cream boat.
Enjoying the warmth of the ice cream.
Time slipped by quietly, and before they knew it, Christmas Eve had finally arrived.
Brook got up early for once.
At ten o'clock, he crawled out of his warm bed and started washing up.
He stood in front of the mirror, carefully examining himself.
Delicate features, an outstanding aura, handsome and refined enough to rival all the esteemed readers.
"Tsk tsk, even more handsome!"
Before long, a carriage slowly appeared in front of Brook's door.
This carriage was uniquely shaped and extraordinarily magnificent.
Yet the passersby simply ignored it, hurrying on as usual.
A House Elf with rabbit-like long ears and skin wrinkles deep enough to catch flies, but dressed in a neat suit, stepped down from the carriage.
It gently knocked on Brook's door a few times.
As soon as Brook opened the door, the aged little elf immediately bowed respectfully to Brook.
Its angle was as precise as if measured by a ruler, reaching a full ninety degrees.
"Master Brook Bursted, I am Morti, the household's butler. The master ordered me to take you to the manor."
Brook frowned slightly. "My surname is Lott. Don't get it wrong next time."
"Very well, Master Brook. May we depart now?"
Morti remained in his respectful demeanor.
"Yes."
Morti respectfully guided Brook to the carriage.
It was more like a moving house than a carriage.
No horses or magical creatures were pulling it.
The body was crafted from rare Laurel Wood.
Silver threads traced complex runes across the surface, emitting a soft moonlight glow.
On the roof was set a magical creature made of pure gold.
Brook didn't recognize it.
The carriage door handle was also forged from pure gold, carved into the shape of a griffin.
The griffin's eyes were inlaid with rubies, each no less than five carats.
Inside the carriage, it was "outrageously luxurious."
The interior had clearly been enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm, making it larger than Brook's own home.
The carpet was as white as snow, without a single fleck of color.
When Brook stepped onto it, it was incredibly soft, as if treading on clouds.
In the center of the carriage sat a small, exquisite table, its surface crafted from warm, smooth jade.
On the table were crystal wine glasses and silver utensils, filled with all kinds of snacks and fresh fruit.
The temperature inside the carriage was also very comfortable.
Looking at this carriage, Brook already had a clear idea in mind.
"Mine, mine, all mine."
