Three Trophies First

Bayern once again chose Donaueschingen as the location for its summer training camp.

It was a lucky place for Bayern. Over the past three years, the team had chosen this small town on the edge of the Black Forest for its training camp, and it had brought Bayern extraordinary luck. As a result, Bayern's power brokers and Heynckes had become somewhat superstitious about the place.

After training in Donaueschingen for a week, the team set off for Salzburg, Austria, to challenge Salzburg Red Bull away.

In their first warm-up match, Bayern's performance was far from ideal. They nearly allowed Salzburg Red Bull to force a draw on their home turf, but Su Dong's goal ultimately helped Bayern scrape out a one-nil away victory.

This was not only Bayern's first warm-up match of the new season, but also former Bayern player Niko Kovac's farewell match. The player started and played for sixteen minutes before being substituted, bringing the final match of his career to an end.

The Kovac brothers had not spent particularly long at Bayern. Older brother Niko Kovac had played there for only two years. Both brothers had joined during Bayern's dark period, and in truth, neither had received much praise.

But when Salzburg Red Bull, where Niko Kovac played, sent an invitation asking Bayern to attend his retirement farewell match, Bayern agreed without hesitation.

In this respect, Bayern was still very humane. That was related to the fact that the club's management had all come from professional football backgrounds.

Nowadays, many of the legendary stars and esteemed former players of the past, including Gerd Müller and Sepp Maier, served in the club's management or coaching staff.

If one were really discussing football heritage, Bayern should be considered the club with the richest football genes among Europe's many giants.
