It was another gloomy afternoon.
On the northwestern outskirts of Birmingham, a black Audi crossed an overpass, turning off the southbound M6 Expressway onto the M5 Expressway before speeding toward western Birmingham.
The M5 Expressway ran between the two large West Midlands County towns of West Bromwich and Handsworth, but the Audi exited at a junction north of both towns.
After leaving the expressway, it drove east around a roundabout and crossed over the highway. Less than a hundred meters away on the eastern side, a professional football stadium stood prominently on the southern side of the road. To the west of the stadium were a school and a training ground.
With a match taking place that afternoon, the road was quite crowded. Traffic streamed past in an endless flow.
There was a small parking lot east of the stadium, but by then it was already completely jammed.
"Boss, why don't you two get out and grab something to eat first? I'll go ahead and find somewhere to park." The driver leaned over and spoke to the two men in the back seat, his tone extremely respectful.
The back seat held a bald middle-aged man and an old man with a red nose. After hearing the driver, the bald man put a thick woolen hat on his head and wrapped a scarf around himself, covering nearly half his face. He clearly had no intention of letting anyone see what he looked like.
The red-nosed old man did the same. Before getting out, he even pulled the brim of his hat lower.
November had arrived, and the temperature had suddenly dropped.
The Audi found a gap and pulled over by the roadside. The two men got out from opposite sides and glanced around at the bustling scene of people and traffic.
