The enormous, savage dragon head hovered less than two meters from Angel.
Though it released no pressure, at such close range, the aura unconsciously emanating from its body left Angel unable to move. He could only watch helplessly as Toby was swept up into the air.
"D-Don't... don't touch him." With great effort, Angel suppressed his roiling blood and terrified heart, speaking each word slowly.
The Abyss Wind Dragon ignored Angel. Its huge, bell-like eyes merely studied Toby carefully.
The emotions in its gaze were exceedingly complicated: confusion, reminiscence, but above all, disgust.
"So it really does carry that thing's aura." A mental message entered Angel's mind. "It does not seem to be its descendant. Rather, it is somewhat like a pouch that has gathered all of its emotions together? Was it altered and transplanted afterward?"
The Abyss Wind Dragon's confusion stunned Angel.
At first, he did not understand what it meant by "that thing's aura." But combined with its later words, such as "gathered all of its emotions together," Angel roughly understood.
Toby was actually a "living food" Gloria had created through the art of Genesis. What made him special was that the seasonings used to create him had been refined from the internal organs of a Legendary Demonic Beast she had acquired by chance.
Angel had never considered, nor had any intention of investigating, Toby's "former self." But ever since coming to the Abyss, he had discovered that Toby seemed unaffected by the negative effects of the Abyss environment. He was even more at home here than in the Wizarding World. Angel had guessed then that Toby's former self—that Legendary Demonic Beast—might have come from the Abyss. Otherwise, there was no explanation for why Toby could move through the Abyss without hindrance.
