Little Saim hurried out of the farm owner's room, his face pale, his hands trembling nonstop, looking as though his soul had left his body.
It was not until he collided with the wine-serving maid at a corner that he came back to his senses.
"Little Saim? How did you get inside the manor? Don't you know the master hates slaves running into—" Before the wine-serving maid could finish, she suddenly froze, her gaze fixed directly on Little Saim's hand.
A great deal of blood stained Little Saim from his elbow and sleeve all the way to his palm.
The wine-serving maid stared at Little Saim in disbelief, then looked in the direction he had run from. Her trembling finger pointed at him. "You... you..."
"I... I didn't mean to." Little Saim's face showed panic. He shoved aside the maid's hand and ran outside.
Not long after Little Saim fled, he clearly heard the wine-serving maid scream.
"I didn't mean to kill him, I didn't! He was forcing me." Little Saim repeated the words under his breath. When he rushed out of the manor gates and looked upon the vast farm outside, with herders coming and going, his eyes abruptly grew deeper. "No, if I go out like this, I'll be discovered. I need to calm down."
"I killed him, killed that beast. If they catch me, I'll definitely die. I have to leave this place."
Little Saim took a deep breath and forcibly steadied himself. He stripped off his bloodstained outer garment and tossed it into a filthy puddle, then went to a water bucket nearby and washed the blood from his hands.
Then he headed outside as though nothing had happened.
