They moved through a forest wreathed in mist. Before them lay nothing but shadowy depths and blurred shapes, yet Captain Barro the Bearded and the scrawny Boqi moved at a remarkably fast pace.
It was normal for Boqi to walk quickly; after all, he came here from time to time to meet Little Flea. But Barro was just as swift, even moving ahead of Boqi. That alone showed that Barro was clearly very familiar with Dock No. 1.
And judging by just how familiar he was, even Boqi felt ashamed of his inferiority. "Captain, why do you look even more familiar with this place than I am? Don't tell me you still haven't given up?"
Barro did not look back, continuing to weave swiftly through the forest. "Given up what?"
"Taking Dock No. 1."
Barro paused for a second, then continued walking as if nothing had happened. "Dock No. 1 has the best location, and behind it is a stretch of fertile flatland. Those pirates don't understand farming at all. It's simply a waste of resources."
"So Captain really does still have his eye on it. No wonder you know this place so well. You must have come here plenty of times."
"Hmph." Barro snorted out a puff of stale breath through his nose, but he did not deny it.
He did not actually want to keep coveting it either. But as long as the mist did not disappear, there was no hope of leaving the island anytime soon. Since they had to survive on this torturous hell of an island for the long term, naturally, he wanted a better place to live.
It was simply... Lunke, damn Lunke.
"If the day really comes when you seize Dock No. 1, be careful. Don't drag Little Flea into it."
