The alchemical puppet's cold words and lofty attitude made Adanis feel an unprecedented humiliation.
She was not like Olao. Olao had been personally raised by Augustine, and so he held Augustine in great respect. But Adanis had never met Augustine. Though she knew her birth was inseparable from Augustine, she regarded being "born but never raised" as cold-blooded and heartless.
On top of that, the contract Augustine had left behind had shackled both Olao and her former self, making Adanis dislike Augustine even more.
And now, Augustine wanted to use such a domineering attitude to decide her life with a single word.
Adanis's rage nearly formed into an aura that spilled from her body.
Her chest rose and fell without pause. Bloodshot veins filled her eyes as her hate-filled gaze fixed viciously upon the alchemical puppet.
The moment Olao saw Adanis in this state, his heart skipped a beat. He knew Adanis too well. This was clearly rage blazing into her heart. In such a state, it was hard to say what Adanis might do, but it certainly would not be rational!
Olao hurried to Adanis's side and reached out to take hold of her.
Olao's warm hand brought a trace of warmth to Adanis's icy skin.
Adanis glanced at Olao beside her. Seeing the pleading, soothing look in his eyes, she finally unclenched the fist hidden within her sleeve.
She dearly wanted to smash the alchemical puppet to pieces right then, and she believed she had the ability to do so. But she knew very well that once she destroyed it, there would be no turning back.
Perhaps she would find momentary satisfaction, but Olao's hope, for which he had waited ten thousand years, would be utterly dashed as well.
