When Dong Laifeng arrived at the street corner, several rings of people had already gathered around.
Everyone seemed to know Dong Laifeng. When he arrived, they all made way for him.
Seeing this, Dong Laifeng felt both proud and somewhat gratified... This was what he had pursued—wherever his gaze reached, he would find support.
But Dong Laifeng soon sensed that something was wrong.
Though the shopkeepers in the district usually looked at him with different expressions, their emotions were generally full and positive. Yet now, he found a few traces of inexplicable sorrow and... pity in their eyes?
What were they sorrowful about? And why did they pity him?
As Dong Laifeng watched the people around him, unease suddenly welled up in his heart.
He quickened his pace and swiftly reached the center of the crowd.
He had initially thought someone was causing trouble. Though such things were rare on Silver Coral Island, they were not unheard of. After all, kindness had nothing to do with one's stance, while disputes and disturbances often arose from opposing positions.
But when he reached the center of the crowd, he discovered two little Tooth Fairies floating in midair, embracing each other as they whispered words of comfort.
Dong Laifeng knew these two little Tooth Fairies.
Though they were not merchants of Amber Shadow Market, shops often hired them as temporary attendants. After all, in the Day Mirror Domain, the Tooth Fairy race was universally acknowledged to be the most approachable. Coupled with the good image the Mirror Sea Scholars had built over the years, the Tooth Fairies had benefited indirectly as well.
Tooth Fairies were naturally optimistic and innocent, rarely showing negative emotions. Yet these two little Tooth Fairies looked as though tears were about to spill from their eyes... What had happened?
