A few minutes later.
Luojia finished examining the Chaos God Ritual array on the ground and murmured, "Just as I thought."
"Compared with earlier arrays, the array for the Chaos God Ritual has clearly changed."
As a descendant of the Creator, Luojia had never entered the ranks of the inner sequence. But its education and understanding of rituals were no less extensive than those of the family's core members.
Luojia had long known about the Chaos God Ritual, a ritual conducted in the shadows.
As far as it knew, the Bloodletting Sect and the God-Worshipping Sect performed god-summoning rituals with different outcomes, but the rituals were essentially the same: sacrifices.
The Bloodletting Sect sacrificed flesh and blood to obtain the Blood God's blessings. The God-Worshipping Sect offered up consciousness to gain the Chaos God's favor.
At its core, then, the Chaos God Ritual was a variation on a sacrificial ritual.
From what Luojia could see, the Chaos God array here had indeed originated from a sacrificial array, but subtle changes had been added.
For one thing, the sacrifices had been given a second destination.
What did that mean?
The array's effect now had a new possibility. In the past, every sacrificed consciousness might have been offered to the Chaos God in hopes of winning its favor. Now, some of those consciousnesses might go elsewhere.
But where?
The array showed no clear destination, but Luojia already had a guess, and it was almost certainly right.
The consciousnesses were probably being directed to... the Secret Grounds.
Since the God-Worshipping Sect had seized the Secret Grounds, its members would certainly try to put them to use.
But seizing the Secret Grounds was not enough to make them work. They also needed a great many offerings and the appropriate ritual participants.
The ritual participants
