Interrogation Labyrinth.
The Decayer leaned against a fork in the path, its eyes closed in a light doze.
Suddenly, a steady knocking echoed from deep within the dim corridor.
The sound drew nearer, growing louder and louder... until it woke the Decayer.
It slowly opened its eyes and saw the source of the knocking: a seductive woman swaying with graceful elegance, a short wooden staff in hand. Every few steps, she raised it and lightly tapped the wall beside her with its tip.
"Liriel..." the Decayer softly called her name. "How did things go on your side?"
Liriel waved the wooden staff in her hand. "This is the result. What about you?"
The Decayer slowly shook its head, a trace of helplessness in its voice. "I found nothing. That ghost flame flew deep into the corridor and plunged into a decayed wall lamp, igniting its oil. After that, there was no further movement..."
It had begun not long ago.
While exploring the depths of the labyrinth, the two of them had accidentally discovered a deeply hidden firebox.
The moment they opened it, two clusters of dim purple ghost flame shot out. Yet instead of attacking them, the flames seemed to possess their own awareness, swiftly darting toward the depths of the corridor.
Seeing this, the Decayer and Liriel immediately gave chase. But the faster they ran, the faster the ghost flames flew.
When they reached this fork, the two ghost flames suddenly split apart, each choosing a different corridor and vanishing from sight in an instant.
The two exchanged a glance.
After spending an entire day feeling their way through the labyrinth, they had already developed an exceptional tacit understanding. With a single look, they understood each other's thoughts.
"I'll take the left, you take the right," Liriel said rapidly.
