Though it had only just crossed the threshold into the high tier, it was still a high-tier alchemical work.

Angel had always thought he would only be able to refine high-tier items after becoming an official wizard. After all, the alchemy world's unwritten rule was that refining a high-tier alchemical work required many external conditions—such as the level of one's alchemical techniques, the breadth of one's energy, and so on... These were rigid requirements, not something Angel could currently achieve. At the very least, he would have to wait until he crossed the Great Barrier.

Yet not every high-tier work in the world needed to fulfill those rigid requirements. There were also certain rather special high-tier works.

This category of high-tier work placed emphasis on its own effects.

Simply put, its effects had already reached the threshold of the high tier. Even if its materials and refining methods were too low-grade, they could not restrict the tier of its effects.

It was a very special state.

For other alchemists, a large portion of the high-tier items they refined were actually made possible by the unique properties of high-tier materials. After all, as long as high-tier materials were not refined into failures, the resulting effects would naturally not be too poor.

Using mid- or low-tier materials to produce high-tier effects, however, was what truly defied the heavens.

Almost every alchemy master had several such acclaimed works.

And the music box Angel had refined met that standard.

Though neither the materials nor the alchemical techniques used had reached high-tier standards, the effect of the "Ocean Rhythm" he ultimately refined had indeed reached the high tier.
