The entire illusion was cast in an extremely gloomy palette. Misty gray darkness spread across the land, and even daylight could not dispel the dimness.
However, the illusion was not completely without light. Jiebo noticed that radiance rose from several ruins—some from fluorite streetlamps, some purely from fireflies, but most from those lamp-bearing banshees floating in midair.
High above Jiebo, terrifying banshees carrying scarlet lamps were prowling.
These banshees looked exceptionally vicious and horrifying. They held lamps in one hand and massive scythes in the other, and with a casual swing, they could sever trees and boulders out of thin air.
But on closer inspection, their bodies were filled with some kind of illusory power. They were not real banshees, merely creations of illusion.
"What did Angel set these lamp-bearing banshees to patrol for?"
And besides these banshees, what were all the ghosts and phantoms scattered everywhere for? Was it simply to stop people from entering the orphanage?
