After three days of assault, Cinder Rock had suffered severe damage. Once Angel set foot on it, he saw shattered, collapsed buildings almost every stretch of the way.
Even several of the bridges linking it to the other Heaven-Shaking Giant Rocks had been broken.
Even so, after arriving on Cinder Rock, Angel could not stop marveling at this city of sanctuary.
"Let's go to Watchers' Long Street first and wait for news from Sinafa," Madeleine said.
Watchers' Long Street had once been Cinder Rock's tavern-and-inn district, filled with countless little eateries and drinking houses. But after this battle, Watchers' Long Street had been completely reduced to ruins, nearly nothing but broken walls and rubble. It was even more devastated than the Central Cathedral outside.
"Thousands of Twin-Blade Butchers descended on Watchers' Long Street. No one could stop them," said a wizard apprentice recovering from his injuries by the roadside. "The Twin-Blade Butchers came for the food and drink. They're huge, and once they started swinging those twin blades, the surrounding buildings simply couldn't withstand it."
It was precisely because of the Twin-Blade Butchers' massive incursion that Watchers' Long Street had suffered worse damage than anywhere else.
"Are Twin-Blade Butchers those big fat guys that fly with their ears?" Angel asked Madeleine.
Madeleine nodded. "That's right. They're also a type of Demonic Beast from the Abyss. They may look human, but their internal structure is completely different. Twin-Blade Butchers adore food, drink, and cooking. Some Half-Blood Demons like to keep them as cooks."
No wonder the Twin-Blade Butchers he had seen earlier had each carried a huge pot on their backs. They moonlighted as private chefs.
