The Changing Nature of War!

About three hundred kilometers west of the Tristain Kingdom, along the coast.

Earth-shaking roars and battle cries filled the air, while endless cannon fire and magical bombardments rose and fell in succession.

Two enormous, majestic magical armies could be seen fighting fiercely across the vast land and boundless sky, with the sprawling ocean as their backdrop.

Yet the two sides fought in markedly different styles.

Most of the southern army's soldiers wore heavy armor and carried swords as they charged forward fearlessly.

The northern army's lightly armored soldiers held strange long-barreled muskets, firing continuously from behind walls created with earth magic.

On their left and right, shield bearers raised their shields overhead, blocking the arrows raining down from the sky.

Behind them stood mages wielding long staffs, ready at any moment to defend against incoming magical fireballs or cannon shells.

Further back was an artillery formation of no fewer than two hundred cannons.

With every deafening boom, surging flames burst forth, unleashing a sky-filling barrage upon the large enemy formations charging toward them.

Whenever a shell struck the ground, smoke billowed and flesh and blood splattered.

Judging from the overall scene.

If one ignored the magical warships and dragon riders in the sky.

It looked less like two armies of the Magic World fighting each other, and more like an ancient cold-weapons army clashing against an army armed with First World War-era firearms.

Magic had instead become a supporting element on the battlefield.

This was the main battlefield in the struggle between the two great powers, Gallia and Albion!

The former was the so-called "cold-weapons army," while the latter was the "firearms army." But that did not mean the former lacked firearms.
