  • Garp told Bogard that Dragon could contend with Taklama and was gaining strength as the battle pushed him.
  • After Hero Water's five-minute effect ended, the Marines withdrew from the city and gathered on a dune, unable to see Dragon through the sandstorm.

The chapter ended with Imu turning his attention to the Poneglyph hidden in Alabasta’s Funerary Temple.

  • Imu studied the straw hat and reasoned that Joy Boy had stored his consciousness in the awakened Gum-Gum Fruit using Haki and his soul.
  • Imu decided Shanks had to return to Mary Geoise under the confinement order and told Saint Shepherd Ju Peter to have CP1 retrieve Shanks and Buggy from the East Blue.
  • Imu ordered CIPHER POL to stop imprisoning agents for failed missions and instead give them appropriate punishment or demotion.

After the group planned harsh winter exercises, Kuzan and Dragon discussed the World Government’s changes and realized their postings formed four checkpoints along the Grand Line.

  • Zephyr suffered an asthma attack after Kuzan finished recounting his experiences, then took medicine and admitted it eased his symptoms without curing them.

  • Gion practiced swordsmanship before dawn and told Stussy she wanted to become the world's strongest Great Swordsman.
  • Gion said she planned to challenge herself by asking Saint Nerona to increase the power and speed of his serves, while Stussy declined to train that way.
  • Gion and Stussy watched workers replace the ruined grass with Adam Wood flooring and install a Sea King tendon net and reinforced rackets.
  • Gion and Stussy recognized that the court's layout resembled the Red Line, the Grand Line, and the Calm Belt.
  • Imu, disguised as Saint Nerona, picked up a racket, stepped onto the court, and asked Gion to play a test match.
