Nand Commandery lay at the border between Great Jin's northern and central regions. In terms of area, it ranked near the bottom among Great Jin's commanderies, fully five times smaller than Liaozhou.

Yet in terms of prosperity, it could rank among the top five.

This was because much of the commandery consisted of plains and water towns, rich in produce. More importantly, it was home to no shortage of famous mountains and great rivers, with abundant spiritual qi, making it one of the Mortal World's rare Sacred Lands of Cultivation.

Unlike those commanderies controlled by the Righteous and Demonic Paths, Nand Commandery was steeped in the worship of Buddhism and reverence for Confucianism. Buddhist and Confucian sects were spread throughout the entire commandery.

Whether rich or poor, the mortals of the commandery treated the Buddhist and Confucian paths with utmost respect.

After mortal disciples were taught the fundamental ideas of Confucianism and some basic classics, they would choose to descend the mountain and join the Great Jin Imperial Court, becoming officials in various regions.

Confucian cultivators were even more welcome among Great Jin's Royal Family. So long as they were willing, they would be warmly received.

In a Great Jin effectively controlled by the Righteous and Demonic Paths, if the Great Jin Royal Family wished to build up its strength, aside from internal development, its only option was to recruit talented people from the Confucian school.

Thus, one of the main reasons for Nand Commandery's prosperity and wealth was the material support secretly provided by the Great Jin Royal Family.
