Chapter Summaries

William activated the Forerunner sphere, allowing Serena and Halsey to copy the Shield World’s data and give his armor basic control over the Dreadnought Fleet. He then led his troops and the forty-four warships out of the Shield World aboard the Amber.

• William removed his gauntlet and touched the sphere, which recorded his biological information and activated the Dreadnought Warships.
• Saum hailed humans as the legendary Recyclers after the warships unfolded into Combat Form.
• Serena entered the Shield World system, copied its data, and uploaded it to the Star Killer flagship, but the information left her exhausted.
• William reinserted Serena’s chip and formed a Neural Link to help her recover while Halsey analyzed the data.
• Halsey transferred basic Dreadnought Fleet control to William’s Power Armor, and William ordered everyone back to the Amber.

He then introduced Sangheili leader General Enzo Saum to explain why Sangheili had been seen fighting alongside human forces.

• Andre reported that the war began after The Observer fought the Covenant at Bountiful Star and described humanity's casualties and lost colonies.
• Andre revealed that the Covenant had suffered enormous losses, its capital the City of Brotherly Love had fallen, and humanity had achieved an absolute victory.

• Halsey ordered Megan to scan the savanna and reconstruct the ancient terrain, and Megan discovered a vast circular artificial structure.
• Halsey summoned Engineering Teams from across Africa to excavate the site within four days and asked Megan to notify William.
• The Engineering Teams uncovered a Forerunner ruin two hundred meters beneath Mombasa, revealing a huge plaza and six groups of triangular structures.

The ruins beneath Mombasa opened a portal, and William’s fleet traveled through it to the Forerunners’ Ark. The fleet arrived in a vast region overlooking the Milky Way, where Serena began surveying the Ark and its surroundings.

• The ruins unfolded into a matrix and opened a dark-blue portal above Mombasa, which swallowed the Star Killer-class Flagship and six Dreadnought Warships.
