The following video is a live broadcast from the helmet camera of Corporal ■■, commander of UBCS Group B, who is wearing AAES exoskeleton armor.
First-person perspective.
The Corporal is holding a rifle developed by The Hive.
The helmet's field of vision is clear.
The bottom left of the display shows the remaining rifle ammunition and spare magazines.
The top right is a dynamic detection radar; five yellow dots indicate friendly units, and dense red dots represent the zombies in the training ground.
In the center is a red crosshair for aiming.
The display also has options for infrared, night vision, thermal imaging, and motion capture.
Corporal: Hoo-ha (Breathing is noticeable due to the enclosed space.)
Halsey's voice comes through the comms: "Group B, the boss is watching, start the show~."
Corporal: "Roger."
The gate in front of the view opens.
Corporal: (Grips the rifle with his right hand, waves his left hand forward) "Group B, advance."
Everyone: "Yes."
The Corporal and five subordinates quickly run and spread out in a line inside the training ground.
Thump! (Sound of the gate closing behind them)
At the same time, zombies, zombie dogs, and a Licker detect their presence.
The display marks the zombies within sight and the crosshair quickly moves to the nearest one.
Corporal: "Open fire."
Everyone: (Calmly) "Yes."
Comms: Crack-crack! (Continuous gunfire from various calibers)
With the assistance of the mechanical exoskeleton, the recoil of the firearms is easily suppressed, and the live broadcast screen only shakes slightly.
The Corporal aims at the marked zombies one by one, eliminating enemies within his line of sight with an almost 100% headshot rate.
The combat system's markings do not repeat, greatly increasing the UBCS's ammunition efficiency and their effectiveness in clearing enemies.
Woof! (Zombie dog's howl)
A zombie dog narrowly slips through the barrage of fire and sprints agilely towards the line.
Crack-crack! (Machine gun fire)
The zombie dog is blown apart by the machine gunner.
The zombie dog's dismembered bones and tissues slide across the white floor due to the momentum of its charge, leaving a pool of blood.
Hiss!
A Licker leaps into the air, lunging towards the Corporal's position.
Due to its extreme speed, the other UBCS soldiers cannot provide timely assistance.
Plop!
The perspective shakes violently.
After clearing, the Licker is stepping on the Corporal's body.
The two begin a close-quarters struggle.
Corporal: "Ngh—!" (A pained groan as he's struck by the Licker's claws)
Rifleman: "Corporal! Machine Gunner, blow that son of a bitch away!"
Corporal: "No need!" (Says through gritted teeth)
The Corporal then seizes an opening and kicks the Licker's abdomen with his right leg.
Hiss!
The Licker is lifted by the immense force of the mechanical exoskeleton and falls backward in pain.
Immediately after, the Corporal in the view quickly gets up, raises his left foot, and stomps on the Licker's head.
Squish! (Sound of blood splattering)
A small amount of blood splashes onto the protective shield outside the helmet.
The live broadcast ends.
Meanwhile.
The content on the central display screen in the observation room froze on the image of a Licker being stomped to death.
Seeing this, William's face lit up with joy as he slowly walked to the giant bulletproof glass.
He looked down.
The trial ground, originally crowded with Zombies, had been cleared 'spotlessly' under the overwhelming firepower of six UBCS soldiers in AAES suits.
However, Zombie Dogs and Lickers remained a significant threat.
This indicated that AAES could not respond in time to abnormal Containment Objects that were fast and skilled at sneak attacks.
But as long as the numbers were within a controllable range, AAES still offered a powerful defensive effect.
Halsey came to William's side and said with a hint of pride, "How is it, boss?"
"Very good!" William nodded vigorously.
He then turned to Halsey, placed his hands on her shoulders, and couldn't contain his inner joy as he praised her:
"Catherine, I... I don't know how to reward you, you've satisfied me so much!"
"Mmm~~"
Halsey seemed to thoroughly enjoy William calling her by her name directly. Her eyes were closed, and she even tapped her feet in happiness.
"Heh heh."
Seeing her dedicated efforts for the company, coupled with her girlish demeanor, William also smiled gently.
The warm atmosphere lasted for a few seconds.
Halsey then regained her composure and walked to the bulletproof glass window, pointing at the six UBCS members below who were cleaning up the site, saying:
"Boss, this AAES specifically assigned to the UBCS special detachment is actually...
It's actually a substandard product. I put 'Advance' at the beginning so those grunts wouldn't feel too bad.
In reality, it's just something I threw together while developing two nuclear fusion powered armors."
"Nuclear fusion?" William asked incredulously, "You've already managed to create it?"
"Ah, yes."
Halsey suddenly turned, taking the somewhat bewildered William by the hand as they walked out of the observation room. She said:
"I finished drawing the blueprints for the fusion reactor a while ago and submitted them to Wang Zhaofeng's engineering team.
It's estimated that in three to four months, Umbrella's main underground research facilities and military bases will have almost endless energy."
"Is... is that so."
However, William wasn't really listening to her. All he could feel now was how soft Halsey's small hand was, and he had an urge to squeeze it.
"You mentioned before that you wanted to build an Aerospace Carrier, which reminded me that I could miniaturize the fusion reactor and develop hydrogen batteries.
And then, I also discovered..."
Unaware of her boss's lewd thoughts, she continued to patiently explain her various scientific research achievements.
Leaving the observation room.
Protected by Hunk and the Alpha team waiting outside the door, the two headed towards the high-tech weapons research and development area at the far west end of the fourth floor.
After walking for about ten minutes, Halsey led William into a large research laboratory.
There were dozens of top engineers and technicians here.
Some were calculating at their respective workstations, while others were gathered together, discussing academic research that William couldn't understand at all.
What caught William's eye the most were two unfinished armors, suspended in the center of the lab, connected by various cables...
The one on the left had a dark green and black main body, with the helmet and chest plate partially completed.
The one on the right was progressing even slower, with only a gray helmet.
William immediately recognized the one on the left as the Mark 6 Thor's Hammer, and the one on the right as Herendine.
When the engineers and technicians saw William, they all stopped their work and respectfully greeted him:
"Boss."
"Yes, everyone has worked ha—"
Before William could finish his insincere pleasantries, Halsey released his hand and walked to the center of the lab, shooing them away:
"Everyone, please leave. I have something to discuss with the boss privately."
"Yes, Doctor."
After the 'unnecessary personnel' left, Halsey walked up to Thor's Hammer and introduced it:
"Ta-da~
This is the powered armor specifically for the Sparta unit. I've named it Thor's Hammer.
(Pointing to the side) And this is my earliest concept, Herendine.
In theory, it's an armor that ordinary pilots can operate, but it's extremely difficult to realize. It might take about a year or so to complete."
{The concept art for Thor's Hammer and Herendine has been uploaded by the author to the pinned post.}
