Late that night.
"Rumble~--!"
Lightning flashed and thunder boomed over the area where the lighthouse stood.
Inside the command hall, which represented the lighthouse's highest authority...
"Cough! Cough, cough... cough!" Painful coughing rang through the hall.
Morgan could only be seen clutching his chest tightly with his left hand, his body slumped on the stairs. Pointing at Mark, who had been handcuffed, he shouted with all the strength he had left:
"You... You'll get everyone killed...! Ugh..."
After shouting those words, Morgan lost consciousness and fell into a coma.
"Lord City Lord!"
"City Lord Morgan!"
Seeing Morgan fall unconscious, all the City Defense Army soldiers present aimed their guns at Mark, while Jing Nan and Victor, his two fiercely loyal subordinates, hurried forward to check Morgan's condition.
Charles, standing behind and to the side of Mark, saw his father fall unconscious. Not only did he show no trace of grief or concern, but he instead revealed a smile of unconcealed delight.
Because, just as Charles had calculated, Mark had stormed into Dawn Hall alone for Ran Bing and beaten more than a dozen Law Cultists, including Big Dog Sharif, leaving them seriously injured.
Ran Bing had not been defiled by the masked man either. Mark had merely committed a crime serious enough to warrant burning at the stake, so the City Defense Army had handcuffed him and brought him to Morgan.
Morgan, an old man nearly seventy years old, had already been angered half to death by Mark. On top of that, Yellow Hair's "replacing the beams with rotten timbers" had pushed his body to the brink of collapse.
Everything was proceeding just as Charles had calculated. Mark had lost his political support, and Morgan would not live much longer. The position of city lord was practically within his grasp.
