"Hey, kid. What are you doing?"
When the instructor spotted her, the girl assumed he was not talking to her. She looked around, then continued rapidly eating the food in her hand.
"You, I'm talking to you!" Keith strode right up to her, his mouth stretched comically wide. "Who the hell are you, kid?!"
The girl held a potato in her right hand while maintaining a salute. "I come from Dauper Village in the Wall Rose South District. My name is Sasha."
"Sasha, what are you holding in your right hand?"
"A steamed potato. There happened to be one in the kitchen, and I couldn't resist taking it."
"Did you steal it? Why? Why are you eating a potato right now?"
"If it gets cold, it'll go to waste, so I decided to eat it now."
Sasha answered Instructor Keith's questions with complete seriousness.
Keith's expression remained blank, and no particular emotion could be heard in his voice.
"No, you still don't understand. Why did you eat the steamed potato?"
"You mean, why do people eat steamed potatoes?"
The other soldiers stared at Sasha in shock. They had never imagined there was actually a woman bold enough to openly defy an instructor. They could not tell whether this girl was truly stupid or merely pretending.
Seeing how dark the instructor's face had become, Sasha carefully broke the steamed potato apart at the quarter mark. "Tch, you can have half."
Keith accepted the steamed potato, which was clearly only a quarter of its original size, then looked at Sasha again.
A brilliantly foolish grin spread across Sasha's face.
