Even so, he still retained his reason.
No matter what, the most important thing now was to count their numbers and return to the city as quickly as possible. They could not delay everyone over a single matter; that would not benefit anyone in the slightest.
With that in mind, he hurriedly grabbed Reiner by the arm, hoping to calm his emotions as soon as possible.
"Reiner, listen to me!"
"Wiki can't come back. Even if we find his body, it won't do any good. The urgent matter is returning to the city. You can't possibly make all of us accompany you to our deaths, can you?!"
If just a word or two could have worked, that would naturally have been for the best. But Reiner would not have been so deeply fixated otherwise.
Yet his mind was already made up. How could he possibly change it so easily?
"Don't stop me! I have to find Wiki's body!"
"If you don't want to go, then I'll go look for him alone!" Nine.
As captain, how could Levi possibly agree to let Reiner risk returning for Wiki's body?
What was more, even if he allowed Reiner to go back, he could not let him go alone, because that would be even more dangerous. If Reiner returned, Levi would definitely have to send others with him.
But that would be utterly irresponsible toward everyone's safety, so Levi decisively refused Reiner's request.
Before everyone, he shook his head at Reiner and explained, "I can't allow you to do this. I know you mean well for your companion, but what good would it do even if we left Wiki's body intact? The dead cannot be brought back to life. We can't sacrifice anyone else."
Everyone watched the scene unfold, yet they all chose silence.
