Those children had never seen such a strange life-form before, so they were all somewhat reserved.
But the Jack-o'-lantern did not mind at all. It continued speaking with boundless energy. "Very good,
I'll deal with those guys. Hurry and flee into one of the buildings."
Jack swung the lanterns in his hands, and flames emerged from them, spreading in every direction.
The children ran off and rushed into the ruins.
"Everyone's hidden, Mr. Jack."
It was Aisha, sitting atop Pumpkin Head, reminding him.
"I know."
Jack's voice deepened. Then he began to swell slightly, and the flames in his hollow eye sockets began to change.
They transformed from steady flames into raging fires burning with fury.
"We've already seen Vesp's banner, yet you still want to bite those children to death. How excessive. Don't you know the great cause declared by our banner?"
"Jack?"
Yō murmured Jack's name to herself, but Jack did not hear her. Moreover, his current form was different from usual.
Steam rose from Jack's entire body, and his pumpkin head had become ferocious.
"If you don't know, then learn properly and repent thoroughly within my Hellfire.
Remember the emblem displayed by the pale blue flames we have painted. Vesp's banner will never abandon young children!"
"Do it, Mr. Jack!"
"Snap!"
Aisha snapped her fingers, and seven lanterns burning with Hellfire appeared above her head. As those lanterns opened,
savage flames poured forth and rapidly spread.
Gandak, hiding beside Yō, cried out with a pale face. "Are they serious? They actually summoned flames from hell!
This isn't a technique an ordinary demon could perform. Does he intend to completely destroy the entire satellite town?"
"Is it dangerous here?"
Hearing Gandak's words, Yō was somewhat surprised. She had thought that moving a little farther away would be safer.
