February 9, Bernabéu Stadium.
In the twenty-third round of La Liga, Real Madrid hosted Sevilla.
Having just seen their winning streak come to an end, Real Madrid had many people worried that their form might be affected. But less than two minutes into the match, Yang Yang threatened Sevilla's goal with a spectacular long-range shot from more than twenty-five meters out.
In the eighteenth minute, Real Madrid produced a brilliant individual combination between their star players in the attacking third.
After winning the ball in midfield, Modrić launched a long pass. Robben met it in midair and sent it on to Yang Yang inside the penalty area. When Yang Yang saw the goalkeeper rush off his line toward him, he headed the ball back toward the right side of the goal.
Robben followed up and calmly slotted the ball into the empty net. One-nil!
That wonderful piece of individual combination play set the entire Bernabéu Stadium alight. Yang Yang, Robben, and Modrić all rushed to the sideline to celebrate the brilliant goal. From Modrić's long pass until the moment it went in, the ball had never touched the ground.
Inspired by the goal, Real Madrid continued to increase the pressure.
In the twenty-sixth minute, Robben cut in from the right and passed the ball. David Silva played it through, and Yang Yang slipped past his former Ajax teammate Maduro before firing home with his left foot. Real Madrid extended their lead to two-nil.
After the halftime change of ends, just thirty seconds into the second half, Sevilla center-back Fazio found himself at a loss under Yang Yang's relentless pressure. His clearance went wrong, and he failed to intercept in time. Yang Yang collected the ball inside the penalty area and slotted it into the bottom-right corner, completing his brace.
Three-nil!
