La Liga was far ahead, and with the Copa del Rey won, Real Madrid had all but secured a domestic double for the new season.
After the team took the title from Mestalla, the news most heavily hyped by media around the world was undoubtedly Yang Yang's long-distance solo run and Real Madrid's double. Amid the celebrations, however, the possibility of Zidane taking charge in 2016 also attracted the fans' attention. Everyone was eagerly anticipating it.
Over the past few years, Zidane had first served as Benitez's assistant, then worked under Ancelotti. He had accumulated extensive first-team coaching experience and was also taking coaching courses. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before he took charge, and that he would most likely coach Real Madrid.
But no one knew when he would do it or how he would take charge of the team.
Defeating Barcelona to win the Copa del Rey had given everyone at Real Madrid a tremendous morale boost.
When the team returned from Valencia to the Bernabéu with the eighteen-kilogram Copa del Rey trophy, captain Casillas and Ramos both grandly announced to Real Madrid's fans that the team would give everything it had to avenge last season's defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals and fight for another treble.
Normally, Yang Yang did not speak on such occasions, because he was not the team captain.
But this time, after President Florentino and Head Coach Ancelotti had spoken, the entire stadium began chanting Yang Yang's name. The cheers grew even louder after Casillas and Ramos finished their slogans.
Ramos hurried to the back, forcibly dragged Yang Yang to the front, and shoved the microphone into his hand.
Facing the packed stands of Real Madrid fans, Yang Yang did not quite know what to say.
