On the afternoon of October 28, in the tenth round of the Eredivisie, Ajax hosted Feyenoord.
Just twenty-two minutes into the match, Jović opened the scoring for Ajax with a close-range finish inside the box.
In the forty-first minute, Sancho received a pass from Schöne and slotted the ball home from inside the box, making it 2–0.
In the eightieth minute of the second half, substitute Neres assisted Malen for another goal, sealing the final score at 3–0.
Ajax had beaten Feyenoord with practically no trouble.
The result surprised everyone because, in the Eredivisie's clashes between the top sides, Ajax had now comfortably defeated both Eindhoven and Feyenoord in succession.
More frighteningly, when facing these two teams, Ajax had enjoyed overwhelming advantages in both possession and overall play. Against Feyenoord today, Ajax had over seventy percent possession and as many as thirty-one shots.
Feyenoord managed only six shots, with just one on target. They had barely threatened Ajax's goal at all, allowing everyone to clearly see the enormous gap in strength between the two teams.
The Dutch Telegraph even commented that the performances of the two teams were gradually drifting farther apart.
"Ajax are clearly hitting their stride. Yang Yang continues to insist on an extensive rotation system, giving everyone in the squad more opportunities to play and allowing the players to rest in turn. Even so, it is still obvious from the match that Ajax's performances are getting better and better."
The Dutch Telegraph also singled out Van de Beek and Ødegaard, believing that although neither player had scored or assisted, both had played crucial roles.
