Two days after Yang Yang won the Golden Ball Award, Liverpool visited Eindhoven for their final Champions League Group Stage match.

Since the Reds had already qualified from the group, the result of this match hardly mattered.

Liverpool fielded an entirely second-string lineup and defeated Eindhoven 3–1 away from home.

Lucas Leiva performed exceptionally well in this match, providing two assists to help Liverpool come from behind and defeat Eindhoven.

However, immediately after the team returned to the Premier League, they faced the seventeenth round of matches.

Liverpool's defense made mistakes in the first half, conceding twice in succession to Hull City.

The first came when Arbeloa made a defensive error on the right. The second came when Reina failed to claim the ball, and Carragher scored an own goal.

The situation was extremely similar to their earlier match against Man City, and everyone was waiting for Liverpool to turn things around.

Yang Yang needed only two minutes. After receiving Kuyt's cross from the right on the left flank, he forced his way past two defenders and set up the unmarked Gerrard, who fired a low shot into the net to pull one back.

Eight minutes later, Kuyt crossed again from the right. Crouch headed the ball on, and Yang Yang delivered a brilliant back-to-goal volleyed chip. Gerrard once again charged into the penalty area and, left unmarked, pushed the ball into the net to equalize.
