Chen Youliang was dead. His death had been entirely justified, without the slightest surprise.
Never mind that Huang Rong's earlier order had been to "take down" Chen Youliang and bring him back to Great Victory Pass for trial. When those Beggar's Sect disciples made their move, all they remembered was the latter half of Huang Rong's order: "If he dares resist, kill without mercy!"
Had Chen Youliang resisted?
Judging by his body language, apparently not.
But judging by what he said, he had already slandered the sect leader as an impostor. Did that not count as resistance?
That was outright rebellion, all right!
Of course, none of the above was the true reason for Chen Youliang's death.
The real reason the disciples in the hall had beaten him to death was... this bastard was simply too shameless and too sinister. For his own safety, he could send the disciples in the hall out as cannon fodder while sneaking away himself. Worse still, he had even dared to accuse Huang Rong of being an enemy impostor.
If he even dared slander Huang Rong, what would he not dare do when cornered?
If they captured him alive, would he not turn into a mad dog and bite whoever he could? No matter what anyone had done, he would first accuse several important figures in the hall of being his accomplices, muddying the waters completely to fight for that slim Thread of Life.
And these people under Chen Youliang had followed him for so long. They knew what sort of person he was, and none of them could guarantee that he did not have some dirt on them. Even if he did not, given Chen Youliang's nature, could he not fabricate some things that would be impossible to explain clearly?
Even if they
