Venerable Kongxing (Please Recommend, Favorite, and Tip)
Hearing Ye Weiming's warning, the Wudang disciples were all startled. They hastily grabbed their weapons and rose from the ground, but when they saw that the Shaolin disciples closing in were still the same group as before, they could not help feeling slightly baffled.
The lineup had been the same back at the Dragon Gate Escort Agency. Although the other side held the advantage in numbers, they had not truly been able to do anything to them. What were they trying to pull by repeating this today?
Seeing the Shaolin disciples gather around them, Zhang Cuishan frowned slightly. "The important matter comes first. We should not create unnecessary trouble. Let's go."
"Fifth Hero Zhang, don't you think it's a little too late to leave now?" Along with the booming voice, the seven Shaolin NPC masters who had fought Zhang Cuishan earlier appeared together. Together with the players, they formed two rings around the Wudang group.
Seeing that the other side's experts had all arrived, Zhang Cuishan stepped forward and stood before the Shaolin group. He said in a deep voice, "Master Yuan Yin, we have already uncovered some clues regarding the murderer. Does the Shaolin Sect truly intend to keep making things difficult for us, hurting those close to you while delighting your enemies?"
Yuan Yin pressed his palms together. "Since Fifth Hero Zhang has found clues, that is naturally for the best. Then I must trouble Fifth Hero Zhang to accompany This Monk to Shaolin, where you can explain the matter to the abbot."
So Shaolin's objective had never changed. They still wanted to seize Zhang Cuishan and take him to Shaolin!
Ye Weiming could not help frowning at this. What exactly were they doing this for?
Was it truly to investigate the real culprit behind the Dragon Gate Escort Agency Massacre Case? Or were they merely using the matter as an excuse to gain an advantage in Shaolin's struggle against Wudang? Or was it for...
The Dragon Slaying Saber!
Just as Ye Weiming was making his guesses, Zhang Cuishan had already drawn the Iron Brush Silver Hook from his back. "And what if Zhang refuses?"
"Amitabha!"
Suddenly, a Buddhist chant rang out of nowhere, seeming to echo beside the ears of everyone present without end.
As the Sanskrit chant reached their ears, an old white-bearded monk in a kasaya robe walked toward them from afar. His steps appeared slow, yet he crossed a hundred meters in just a few breaths. His speed was even more outrageous than that of a world-class hundred-meter champion!
At the sight of the monk, Zhang Cuishan's expression darkened. At last, he could no longer maintain his earlier composure. "Master Kongxing!"
Ye Weiming said nothing as he watched the situation unfold, secretly wondering, So this Master Kongxing is their greatest support today. But who exactly is he?
As if noticing Ye Weiming's confusion, Yin Bukui explained at once, "Kongxing is one of Shaolin's three eminent monks of the Kong generation. His inner strength has reached the pinnacle, and his Shaolin Dragon Claw Hand is even more masterful. It has supposedly surpassed that of the late Venerable Kongjian."
Ye Weiming was taken aback. "You even know that?"
"Hehe..." Yin Bukui grinned smugly. "My master likes telling me stories about the martial world, and I like listening, so I remembered quite a lot."
Just as Ye Weiming was about to ask which Wudang expert Yin Bukui's master was, another Wudang player wielding a saber said unhappily, "Xue Zhuan, why are you telling this kid so much? I seriously suspect that he's the one who led these Shaolin monks here."
"That's impossible!" Yin Bukui was rather meticulous. "They clearly prepared this ambush in advance, while I only just brought Brother Ye here. So this definitely has nothing to do with him."
At this point, Noodle Bun stepped forward and smiled at Yin Bukui. "You're quite clever. If our quests hadn't clashed, I'd have been willing to make you my friend." Then he turned to the Wudang disciple who had questioned Ye Weiming. "At this point, there's no harm in telling you the truth. You six Taoists walking together were far more conspicuous than anyone else."
After hearing Noodle Bun's words, the Wudang players' expressions immediately became quite colorful.
They had been suspecting someone else of revealing their whereabouts, only to find that they themselves had been followed.
That slap to the face was...
A little fast, and a little painful...
While the players were talking, the NPCs from the two sects were also negotiating. However, Shaolin was determined to take Zhang Cuishan away today, while Zhang Cuishan naturally could not meekly submit to such an unreasonable demand that would utterly disgrace Wudang.
Thus, after only a few exchanges, words gave way to blows.
At the same time, players from all three sides received system notifications.
The Wudang players received:
Zhang Cuishan has been obstructed by Shaolin's Master Kongxing. After exchanging blows, he has discovered that his strength falls short of his opponent's. Moreover, unwilling to retreat alone out of concern for his juniors, he has fallen into a difficult position. Break out immediately and remove Zhang Cuishan's worries!
The Shaolin players received:
Keep all Wudang disciples present here. Do not allow any enemy to escape before Master Kongxing captures Zhang Cuishan, and make sure to leave at least one survivor.
Ye Weiming, however, received:
A conflict has erupted between Shaolin disciples and Wudang disciples. Please choose... 1. Help Shaolin. 2. Help Wudang. 3. Stand by coldly.
"Brothers, attack!" The moment the system notification appeared, Noodle Bun gave the order and led the charge against the Wudang disciples. The prepared Wudang disciples also sprang into action, intending to break through the encirclement.
Ye Weiming made the second choice almost without hesitation. The Dragon's Roar Sword left its sheath as he blocked Noodle Bun, who was leading the charge.
"Brother Weiming, are you really planning to help Wudang to the very end?"
"It's just a quest."
"Good!" With that one word, Brother Bun stopped holding back. He immediately unleashed a set of Arhat Fist techniques and took the lead in attacking Ye Weiming.
Relying on his superior equipment and high Swordsmanship Level, Ye Weiming held back four Shaolin disciples by himself, including Noodle Bun. His strength had risen dramatically again since yesterday. Even one against four, his opponents could do nothing to him for the time being.
He now possessed confidence similar to Zhang Cuishan's. As long as he covered the other Wudang disciples' escape, he could retreat at his leisure whenever he wished. Level 4 Eight-Step Toad Leap had raised his movement skill to the terrifying height of 158 points. If he truly wanted to leave, few players of the same level could catch him.
Besides, none of these Shaolin disciples excelled at movement techniques.
Ye Weiming was absurdly strong, and the Wudang disciples were no weaklings either. Yet under the siege of Shaolin disciples who vastly outnumbered them, breaking through was no easy task.
What was more, the seven Shaolin NPCs who had surrounded Zhang Cuishan yesterday were currently standing to the side as spectators. They might intervene at any moment.
Ye Weiming knew the system could not possibly assign players an impossible quest, but after thinking for quite some time, he still could not come up with a way to resolve the predicament before them.
Could it be that once a quest involved player-versus-player combat, there was no longer any talk of balance?
Just as Ye Weiming was pondering how to break the deadlock, Yin Bukui suddenly shouted from within the crowd, "Brothers, hold on! If we keep holding on, we can win!"
Hold on?
What was going on?
At a time like this, shouldn't they be shouting about charging out and carving a bloody path through?

It's the first week of this new book's trial run, so I need everyone's support. If you have recommendation votes lying around, they're just sitting there anyway—you know what I mean. You can also complete a quest while you're at it, so why not?
The new book period especially needs recommendation votes, so please lend me a hand.
Dong Liu offers his thanks!
