March Summary, April Outlook, and a Plea for Monthly Votes!!

At the beginning of March, Zhai Zhu went to Changsha to attend the China Online Literature Influence Rankings ceremony. His previous book, Walking the Abyss, was fortunate enough to win an award.

On the day I received the award, I was worrying over a major plotline that Choose a Day to Ascend was about to enter—the First Battle of the Heavenly Abyss. I sought out several authors I knew well and asked how this battle should be handled.

I told them that I had three ways to write this battle. The first was to follow my established outline. There would be a plotline in which the protagonist suffered, and readers would definitely curse me for it, but it would benefit the development of the later plot and make it convenient to unfold the characters among the Six Venerables and Twelve Marvels. However, because the protagonist would suffer, some readers might dislike it.

The second was a lukewarm approach that took the readers' feelings into consideration. There would be less suffering, but the plot would be constrained, making it unfavorable for developing the characters among the Six Venerables and Twelve Marvels whom I had been foreshadowing for so long. It would result in these characters often being brushed over in a single stroke.

The third was the wish-fulfillment approach: directly crush the Immortal Emperor and kill him, then launch into the major plotline in the latter stages of the war, mentioning the Six Venerables and Twelve Marvels in passing and skipping over them without writing about them. But then the plot would be impossible to develop.

Several authors all told me that I should choose the first option, follow my own outline and my own pace. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to write later on.
