History

Lucius is a powerful reincarnated soul fragment of the Son of the God of Light. His soul had been split after opposing factions dismembered him in pursuit of the Lord of Light’s Treasury. In the Treasury, his comparatively calm consciousness—called Lucius Number One—signs a contract with Yun Xi: neither may harm the other before becoming a Main God. In return for her help obtaining the Light Godhead, he agrees to help her access Light Sorcery and Divine Light Techniques 177 233.

A second, more violent consciousness arrives at the Treasury and contests Number One’s decisions. To seek the remaining soul fragment needed to retrieve the Godhead, Number One merges into Number Two’s body while retaining his consciousness. They subsequently learn that Yu Nanfei is still outside the Treasury 178 180. Lucius and Yu Nanfei release the Godhead’s restrictions together. It initially chooses Yu Nanfei, who hands it to Lucius because he cannot control it; Lucius divides it and gives half to Yun Xi under their agreement 181.

After the Treasury battle, Lucius and Yun Xi remain allies despite their eventual competition for the Light Godhead. When Ming Long and two allies attack him, Yun Xi saves him because his death or injury would also affect Yu Nanfei. Lucius then calls Yun Xi his friend 205 233 234 235.

Lucius and Yun Xi later ascend to the Temple of Light’s Divine Realm at the same time. Rather than immediately claim his standing as its Divine Child, Lucius chooses to learn about the realm and strengthen himself. He supports Yun Xi’s entry into the Temple under the guise of his soul-fragment reincarnation, while warning her of its risks 253 257 258.

Personality

Lucius’s two principal consciousnesses initially differ sharply: Number One is comparatively peaceful and measured, while Number Two is violent and hostile. They first compete for control, but later divide their time more evenly 178 256. Lucius can be wary of Yun Xi’s growing power while still supporting her; he hopes they can resolve their future dispute over the Godhead without fighting 205 256.

• Yu Nanfei — Another soul fragment and Yun Xi’s friend. He helps release the Light Godhead and hands it to Lucius; Lucius later says he does not view Yu Nanfei’s possible future progress as a reason to fight him 181 256.
