Despite its enormous layout, it reported only two major events.
One was the incident of the Golden Lion attacking Marine Headquarters and retreating unscathed. The other was the Marines announcing the public execution of Fire Fist Ace, the second division commander under Whitebeard.
The former occupied more space, but Luffy locked onto Fire Fist Ace's photograph at a glance.
"Eh?"
When he saw the words "public execution" in the headline, Luffy froze.
Seeing Luffy's reaction, Nami and the others were puzzled and instinctively moved closer.
Then they also saw the contents of the newspaper, and all of them looked shocked.
"Fire Fist Ace... Isn't he Luffy's brother?"
"The Marines are going to publicly execute Ace..."
Aside from Franky, who knew nothing about Ace's relationship with Luffy, the others all looked worriedly at the dazed Luffy.
Luffy clenched the newspaper and lowered his head. "Ace..."
As his brother, even though they each had their own crews and paths, he could never stand by and watch Ace be executed by the Marines.
In an instant, Luffy made the willful decision to temporarily change course.
"Everyone."
Luffy raised his head and looked at his companions before him.
Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, Bartholomew, and Franky all looked at Luffy solemnly.
Even before Luffy spoke, they had already guessed what he was about to say.
"I'm going to save Ace. It might be very dangerous, but I have to go!"
Luffy's expression was resolute.
Saving Ace meant facing the entire Marine Headquarters. That would be an obstacle even harder to overcome than Enies Lobby.
The danger involved went without saying.
