Somewhere in the New World.
Three large warships plowed through the waves.
A muscular man stood at the bow of one of the warships.
The man wore a hat, had a ring of stubble around his chin, and held a cigar between his lips. His eyes were narrowed into slits.
"How much longer until we reach the G5 Branch?"
The man slightly opened his eyes and looked at the adjutant beside him.
"About an hour, Vice Admiral Fire Mountain!"
The adjutant straightened and quickly answered the man's question.
Fire Mountain nodded at the adjutant.
"The G5 Branch, Vergo..."
Gazing at the calm sea ahead, Fire Mountain tilted his head back and exhaled a plume of white smoke. Vergo's appearance flashed through his mind, along with intelligence on Vergo's various abilities.
"He's proficient in the Six Powers, can easily cover his entire body in Armament Haki, and has now eaten the Tremor-Tremor Fruit..."
Fire Mountain felt slightly grim. He turned his head toward the warship sailing across the sea to the left, where he could barely make out another Vice Admiral of equal rank.
Three Headquarters Vice Admirals had been dispatched for this mission to the G5 Branch.
The mission consisted of only one short line: arrest Vergo.
The New World, G5 Branch.
On the flat terrain stood a solemn, imposing base.
The room at the highest point of the base was the office of its commander, Vergo.
Inside the office, a rectangular dining table covered with a white tablecloth stood on the patterned tile floor beside the window.
Vergo sat upright at the table, holding a knife and fork as he leisurely cut into a steak drenched in dark-red sauce on a white plate.
The knife slid through the steak, separating the meat as threads of blood slowly seeped out.
