Three giant insects burrowed out of the ground. One was covered from head to toe in golden armor and had chewing mouthparts like a locust's. Another had the head of a giant moth, a vividly colored body, and four furry antennae. The third had a flat, pitch-black body, resembling a giant cockroach.
Under the mecha's exterior lights, the three giant insects that had emerged from the ground had nowhere to hide. The giant moth spread its wings, beating them and whipping up a violent gale as it flew into the air.
The golden beetle and the giant cockroach crawled toward the mecha at incredible speed.
Inside Eight Gates' cockpit, Bai? saw those giant bugs—especially the thing that looked like a cockroach crawling rapidly toward them—and felt gooseflesh rise all over.
"Don't come any closer..."
"Don't come any closer!"
Suddenly.
Ripples appeared in the air above the highway, and two palms covered in strange patterns thrust violently out of thin air.
The hands clasped into fists. Boom! A mass of dark blue flame rose up, dropping together with the fists and smashing heavily into the golden beetle.
The beetle's shell was incredibly tough. It had always run rampant by relying on that hard shell, but tonight, when those two arms slammed their fists together and struck it, the armor it had relied on to terrorize others shattered on impact.
The cold, dark blue ghostfire then seared across the giant beetle's shell, immediately burning a large black mark into it.
The area covered by the black mark softened and collapsed. Its flesh then melted into a pool of black liquid, flowing out of the insect's body and spreading across the highway.
As for the giant cockroach, it had only just crawled past the golden beetle when a battered greatsword descended from the
