The Mourning Hall.
Thin wisps of smoke curled upward.
Cai Andao lit three sticks of incense, placed them in the burner, and then gazed at the black-and-white photographs hanging on the wall.
There were two photographs in total: one of his wife and one of his son.
Cai Andao simply stared at the photographs of his family on the wall, remaining silent for a long while.
After a moment.
An assistant walked over and said quietly, "Mr. Cai, you have a call."
Cai Andao said, displeased, "Didn't I say I wasn't taking any calls today?"
The assistant lowered his voice. "It's Mr. Shi Yutian. Last night, our camp in the Black Mountain Forbidden Zone was attacked."
Cai Andao's pupils suddenly contracted.
Then he held out his hand.
A phone was placed in his hand.
Cai Andao walked aside with the phone. "What happened, Yutian?"
A soft, effeminate male voice sounded from the other end. "Sorry to disturb you, Teacher Cai."
"It's like this. Last night, we received a distress signal from the camp, so this morning, I personally led people into the Forbidden Land to investigate."
"As it turned out, our camp had been attacked. Not a single person survived in that enormous camp."
Cai Andao's breathing grew heavy. "What about Dr. Zhou Xianwen?"
The voice on the other end paused before answering, "Unfortunately, Dr. Zhou didn't survive either. I examined the cause of his death. His internal organs had vanished, but his body remained intact."
Cai Andao could barely control his emotions. His chest heaved violently, and only after a moment did he say in a low voice, "Who did it?"
"No matter who it was, I'll make him pay a terrible price!"
