At the base's temporary command post, Ji Ying stood before the window, watching a convoy leave the base and head toward what had once been the Forbidden Land.
Footsteps sounded behind him. Catching a familiar scent of tobacco, he knew who had arrived without turning around.
"Captain Luo Yan and the others have set out." Ji Ying smiled. "Fortunately, they didn't drive the mechs out directly. Looks like they still took the civilians into consideration instead of simply wanting to destroy Vulcan Security and be done with it."
Gao Zhi took out a cigarette and held it beneath his nose, taking a sniff. "Yang Qi took a team out. She said Captain Luo Yan asked her to assist with the operation, but he hasn't told her the specific details yet."
Ji Ying walked to the table and looked at the map spread across it. "If you were in his place, what would you do?"
Gao Zhi took out a lighter, lit the cigarette, and inhaled. "First infiltrate the camp, deal with Vulcan Security's guards there, evacuate the civilians, make sure they're safe, and then deploy the mechs..."
As he spoke, Gao Zhi slapped one hand onto the map and smiled at Ji Ying. "Wipe them all out in one strike!"
Ji Ying nodded. "Captain Luo Yan should be using the same method."
He paused. "But even if they aren't launching a direct assault, why didn't they transport the mechs away?"
"If they're only worried about alerting the enemy, they could simply disguise the transport vehicles. And as long as they didn't approach the canyon, they shouldn't be detected."
"Could they be planning to move the mechs later?"
