Late at night, the cold moonlight spilled over the desolate city.
The city had been abandoned for a long time. Because a torrential rain had just fallen, thick, black sewage flowed slowly everywhere across the ground.
It gave off a nauseating stench, pooling into puddles of various sizes across the shattered streets. All kinds of debris floated on the surface, along with even the rotting corpses of animals.
In this filthy, chaotic city, a woman in red walked slowly forward. Her bare feet, so pale that her veins were visible, kept stepping into the murky sewage.
Yet when those feet emerged from the sewage, they were spotless. Not even her red dress or cloak had a speck of dirt on them.
Hong Zhuang walked through the city, past skyscrapers reduced to frames, houses with collapsed walls, and the wreckage of cars scattered everywhere.
Suddenly, a gray figure sprang from a supermarket she passed. Under the moonlight, it looked like a man—but it had sharp fangs and vicious claws.
Its skin was like mountain rock and weathered wood, gray, rough, and covered in stone-like patterns.
The figure radiated a black, hazy aura beneath the moonlight. The smoke-like substance gave off an intense stench of decay. Anyone could tell it was no good thing.
Before the figure could pounce on Hong Zhuang, the air twisted slightly. In an instant, everything below its waist shattered, spraying chunks of bloody flesh toward the left and splattering a red fan across the ground.
Only then did Hong Zhuang stop. She glanced back and laughed.
"So it's a Ghoul Beast. I thought there might be some kind of surprise, but it turned out to be this thing."
