In the distance, Lu Xinyue stood with her arms spread, wearing shorts that revealed her long legs, protecting a twelve- or thirteen-year-old boy behind her like a hen.
The boy clutched something tightly in his hands. He looked terrified, but his eyes held a hint of amusement, as if he were mocking the people Lu Xinyue had stopped.
One of the chefs whom Lu Xinyue had stopped was still holding a spoon.
The chef pointed the spoon at the boy behind Lu Xinyue and said,
"Miss Lu, stop protecting him. That little brat sneaks into the kitchen every other day and steals the food supplied to the Mech Masters!"
"This isn't the first time he's done this. I've warned him many times, but he never learns. If I don't teach him a lesson today, he'll never know he's done wrong."
Lu Xinyue glanced back at the boy and still insisted,
"Stealing a little food isn't a big deal. At worst, give my food to the Mech Masters instead."
"He's still a child. It's normal for a hungry child to steal something to eat. Do you really need to make such a big issue out of it?"
The chef shook his head. "Miss Lu, you don't understand. If he were just eating it himself because he was hungry, that would be one thing."
"But he takes it out to sell. The food we provide to the Mech Masters is guaranteed to be nutritious, and you can't buy it outside."
"Yet he takes that food out to sell. How am I supposed to tolerate that?"
"Regardless, I'm going to teach him a lesson today."
The boy immediately cried out in a plaintive voice, "Big Sister, save me!"
