Watching the two military jeeps reappear on the screen, Colonel Billy picked up the communicator and said, "Listen up. Our opponents will be leaving Lion City soon."
"We'll make our move in a forest not far from here."
"First, we'll cripple their mobility and render their vehicles useless."
"Next, we'll engage them and keep them pinned down in the forest. As long as we keep them from leaving the forest, our objective will be considered accomplished."
At that moment, one of the team members asked, "Colonel, why don't we use mechs? If we deploy mechs, we should be able to complete the mission quickly, right?"
Billy snorted. "I'll only answer such a stupid question once!"
"Listen carefully, idiot."
"If we deploy mechs, using our own will expose our identities and give the Strategic Affairs Department an excuse to deal with us. But now isn't the time to fall out with the Strategic Affairs Department."
"If we use other mechs, their performance will suffer because of inferior specifications or differences in piloting habits. If things go badly, we might even give the enemy a chance to break through."
"Rather than that, we might as well mobilize our personnel to intercept them as we're doing now."
"Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, we won't deploy mechs. Understood?"
The team member answered awkwardly, "Understood."
Only then did Billy say, "All right. I'm assigning tasks now, so listen carefully."
"Martin, find a sniper position. Your task is to kill the enemy's driver."
"If you aren't confident, settle for second best and blow out their tires."
Martin's lazy voice came through the communicator. "Yes, sir."
Billy then assigned two more team members to set up traps. If Martin missed, they would find a way to drive the vehicles into the trap zone, where they would plant explosives.
