Soft silver-white light enveloped the Exploration team's camp. The Fire-Resistant Bead was doing its job, forcing the flames surging madly from deep within Xing City to go around them.
Looking up at the sky from the camp, they saw that the entire heavens were orange-red.
The flames filled the sky, roaring over their heads in one continuous stream.
The fire blotted out the sun and sky, as though it would never die down.
Nearly three hours passed like this before the flying flames erupting from deep within Xing City gradually subsided.
Once the raging wind and flames had completely vanished, smoke rose everywhere except above the Exploration team's camp. Red light flickered across all manner of charred objects, while sparks danced through the sky and scattered with the wind.
"We can basically confirm that the source of the Scorching Wind is in Xing City, inside the palace deep within it."
Colonel Luo lowered the binoculars and spoke.
Jia Miao nodded. "Judging by this, the disaster the Ancient People spoke of hasn't disappeared. It's still inside Xing City."
Colonel Luo looked at her. "Doctor, entering the city under these circumstances will be dangerous."
"I suggest that we first uncover the truth behind the disaster and find a way to eliminate it. Once we've ensured there's no danger, you can enter the city to conduct your research."
Shi Rong said from the side, "But looking at the city's current state, even if there are clues about Kunlun Palace, they may already have been burned away."
Jia Miao, however, said, "Since we've already come this far, there's no reason to leave without entering the gates."
"Regardless of whether the city still contains any clues, we have to go in and investigate."
