Desperate Battlefield.
Deep in the central region lay Black Cloud Mountain.
The towering mountain range was steep and precipitous, thrusting straight into the clouds.
Its rugged slopes were covered in jagged rocks that jutted out like the scales of a giant beast, gleaming with a cold, hard light.
Black Cloud Mountain was surrounded year-round by a thick layer of black mist. This was a natural phenomenon caused by the concentration of Nether Particles reaching a certain level. The mist known as Nether Miasma had never dispersed. It was the nightmare of every living thing in the world.
Nether Miasma blocked out the sun and devoured all life, leaving not a blade of grass growing on Black Cloud Mountain. Not even the weeds that usually grew in cracks between rocks could be found.
From time to time, the mournful sound of wind passing through cracks in the rocks could be heard on the mountain. The sound was shrill and drawn-out, like the weeping of dead souls, sending chills down the spine.
The closer one got to the mountaintop, the more often dazzling bolts of lightning could be seen suddenly striking down through the thick black mist.
The thunderbolts, like divine punishment, occasionally struck the body of Black Cloud Mountain. Each time they fell, they blasted a hole into it.
If anyone could climb to the summit, they would discover that it was shaped like a volcanic crater, with a natural funnel-shaped opening.
From time to time, a mass of black mist would rise from this opening, spreading through the air for a moment before shrinking back down.
Then, after some time had passed, it would rise again.
This black mist looked extremely similar to Nether Miasma. Without careful observation, it was easy to mistake the two for each other.
