The white light lasted a long time, as if an entire century had passed, before slowly fading away.

Richard raised a hand and pressed his temple. His brain gave him an accurate answer: the white light had lasted no more than a second.

Was it an illusion... Richard blinked and looked around, only to discover that Molly and the others had vanished without a trace. He was standing in a completely unfamiliar place.

It was an endless snowfield. Thick snow lay beneath his feet, and heaven and earth were a sheet of white. Nothing else existed.

Turning around, he looked behind him. The blue gate he had entered through had completely vanished, as if there had never been an entrance at all.

A deep blue light appeared in his eyes as he activated the see-through function of Gaze of the Eye. Richard looked around again. He found nothing hidden. Everything around him truly existed, yet it did not feel entirely real, as though something indescribable was missing.

He continued looking around. After staring for quite a while, he saw nothing but boundless white. Only at the point far ahead where heaven and earth met in a single line did a black shadow appear. It was somewhat pointed, like a Black Tower standing upon the horizon, the only landmark in this world.
